We are proud to be one of North Yorkshire’s few remaining family run bakeries and have been delivering quality products for more than 90 years. Every week fourth generation family member Nick (pictured above right), who runs Clarks with sister Hilary (pictured above left along with Gerald Clark, her grandfather), and his staff in our Long Street bakery produce 10,000 bread rolls and around 800 loaves along with a wide range of cakes and their famous hot sandwiches which are sold at our Long Street and Market place outlets. The ovens are turned on at 1am every morning to produce an extensive range of breads from a standard white loaf to a mouth-watering brie and bacon to a multi seeded granary loaf and fruited breads such as our Teacake loaf. We serve our freshly baked bread, rolls, cakes, pastries, hot pies and a wide selection of delicious homemade sandwiches to take away through our shops or to eat in our café. Our mince pies and Christmas cakes are still made to the recipes invented by Granny Joyce Clark.
We are open early for breakfast and do what our locals call the best sausage or bacon sandwiches in the area. Because we are so involved with our local community, we have, on occasions, even made freshly baked sausage rolls available to those customers walking home from a late night out who have “the munchies” as they pass the bakery after we have started working at 1am.
